Not Afraid to Roll up His Sleeves -
There are few men I say I would follow anywhere. Colonel Dan Brue is at the top of that list however. His honor and integrity are above reproach. His leadership style is caring yet firm. Not afraid to roll up his sleeves and get in the mess with his team. A warrior, who truly cares about the other warriors he leads. The Army is losing one heck of a leader, but the country should ask him to continue to lead. I am honored to have served under this man. He impacted lives and changed his soldiers for the better. I'll always follow you sir, lead the way HOOAH! Big country Always has your 6 sir! Congratulations and enjoy your breather. You've earned it.

I can attest to the statements made by others endorsing Dan Brue. He was my best friend in high school; even then, he exhibited the traits and characteristics of a leader. He was compassionate, capable, and concerned himself with issues other's were having. He always kept a level head and did the right thing, regardless of what others thought. When he enlisted in the Army I knew he would excel. I eventually made my way to the Fire Service and have since retired. There are only a few people in this world I would pick to stand at my side and take on the world. Though I haven't seen him in three decades, Dan is, and will always be, one of them. — Tommy Bozeman

Humble Leader -
What I will remember from COL Brue that will set him apart from all my other supervisors and commanders is how humble he was. This was not just to his open door policy and as his security manager I had to report certain topics of concern to him but his beliefs in family, religion, and community outreach. COL Brue initiated a program to feed and take donations to the homeless. We would get together as an organization, prepare food and drinks, and walk the streets of Seoul, Korea. Not only that I would see COL Brue take time to converse with volunteers but with those that needed that extra support.

Inspirational Leader -
COL Brue is an inspirational leader who handles stress and crises with a calm and steady demeanor. During the year that I served as his deputy, I saw firsthand how he developed a strong sense of unit pride by enforcing high standards while caring for Soldiers. Under his leadership, deficiencies that had lingered for years were addressed and remediated, Soldiers were regularly recognized for stellar performance, and the unit consistently performed superbly on missions and training exercises. When a large, high-impact crisis occurred, COL Brue focused on solving the problem for customers without seeking to place-blame. He calmly and personally directed the around-the-clock work to restore services to everyone and subordinates followed his lead, working quickly but calmly so time and energy weren't wasted. His demonstrated care for others, both inside and outside the organization, earned him my respect and inspired me to work hard and give him my best effort. I would work for or with him again anytime.

Go-to-Guy -
I have known Dan Brue since mid 2001. He is an exceptional leader, and a mentor who I am lucky to also consider a great friend. Whether you were able to work with Dan directly, or indirectly he has always been the "Go-to guy" no matter the issue. During my 25 year Military career I have watched other leaders wilt under the pressure of the situations in which they have found themselves in. However, for Dan, that is when he is at his best. He could be thrown into the most arduous situation within a military environment and yet, he would be the beacon of calm that we all search for during these tense moments....
